Domus Development is committed to a triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit. Domus sets the bar high for what is possible in green building techniques, particularly in affordable housing. Our properties have included a number of the building industry's most cutting-edge green building practices.
Several of our properties utilize solar energy through cutting edge photovoltaic technology, such as technology developed by Silicon Energy. Garvey Court is a LEED Platinum building and the first LEED building ever constructed in the City of El Monte in Los Angeles County. La Valentina North was the pilot project for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District's Home of the Future Program, creating near Net-Zero buildings in which 100% of the energy consumed within highly-efficient dwellings were created by rooftop solar panels. Buildings exceed Title 24 by an unprecedented over-50%. All of our properties feature energy efficient appliances, including a large number with an Energy Star designation.
Our projects are designed with features that maximize resource efficiency. Landscaping at sites such as Kings Beach incorporates a bio-filtration system, naturally treating storm water that helps keep Lake Tahoe blue. Siena Court features a green roof that contains 100% of storm water, preventing run-off into the San Francisco Bay Delta region.
Responsible Land Use
We are committed to high-density infill development and siting projects near jobs and amenities. At some of our sites, including Kings Beach, residents are issued transit passes. At La Valentina, one of our transit-oriented development sites, one third of residents walk, bike, or use transit for their daily commute.
